My Journey Into Discovery: ACT’s Wonders of Mini Science Fair | Gabriella Araneta

MY JOURNEY INTO DISCOVERY

ACT’s Mini Science Fair was hosted by Wandering Minds, and I was exposed to fascinating discoveries and new learnings. The event was full of knowledge, with each exhibition offering unique insights into various topics about space, climate change, and the planet Mars.

The first exhibition was the space dome and it was an eye-opening experience. I found myself diving into the mysteries of the solar system, learning more information about each planet, and even discovering the fascinating history behind the zodiac signs. The concept of the "Big Bang Theory" was explored as well.

Moving on to the second exhibition, I was confronted with the reality of climate change and it indeed opened my eyes and mind. Climate Change will have irreversible effects by the year 2025. Through interactive displays and informative discussions, I gained valuable insights into the causes and consequences of climate change. I was particularly inspired by the simple yet impactful actions, such as practicing the 3 R's (reduce, reuse, recycle) and many more as potential solutions to reduce climate change.

The last exhibition of the science fair was the exploration of the planet Mars, where I had the incredible opportunity to meet the human-like robot named Perseverance. Interacting with the technologies really brought space exploration to life.

The most memorable experience during the science fair was trying out the Bicycle Dynamo in Exhibition B. I rode the bicycle and started paddling, and I noticed that whenever I paddled, a tiny house was provided with light. I learned that the bicycle served as a generator for the tiny house. This is because the kinetic energy was transformed or converted into electrical power.

The science fair was absolutely an eye-opening experience that made me understand more about scientific applications in real life. Overall, the science fair was a fascinating journey of discovery that inspired me to continue exploring the wonders of science and its impact on our planet.

Robert Heinlein once said “Everything is theoretically impossible until it is done”, before the science fair, I never knew a bicycle could be a generator or that there were 13 zodiac signs. During the science fair, a lot of my questions were answered. Everything seemed impossible, but after my experience with the science fair, it truly made things possible. The science fair was truly an enriching and fascinating experience. I left the fair with a newfound sense of excitement to continue exploring scientific discoveries.
